Oliver Cabell Size Guide

Footwear and insole sizing for women and men, with foot length, foot width and footbed measurements in one place. Measure once, then match your numbers to the row that fits you.

This guide is published by an independent retailer that is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Oliver Cabell. All measurements follow the brand's published conversion charts and are reproduced here for reference.

Women's Footwear

Used across the women's range, including Low 1, GAT, GAT DS, Driver, Form 1 and Jabbar High. Oliver Cabell footwear is offered in whole sizes only. If you normally wear a half size, most customers take the next full size up.

13 43 11.5 28.8 11.3
14 44 12.5 29.5 11.6

Foot length is the distance from the wall to the tip of your longest toe. The women's chart is published without a separate foot width column, so use foot length as your primary match.

Men's Footwear

Used across the men's range, including Low 1, Low 1 Laceless, GAT, GAT DS, Driver, Form 1, Jabbar High and the waterproof styles. Oliver Cabell sneakers are available in whole sizes only and run slightly small, so most customers wearing a half size take the next full size up.

15 48 14.5 31.8 12.5 9.6

Foot width is measured across the widest part of the foot, at the ball. In the published chart the 12 and 13 rows share one foot length figure, and the 14 and 15 rows share another, so use foot width as the tiebreaker at the top of the range.

Width Options

Length gets you close, width decides whether the shoe feels right. Oliver Cabell publishes a width rating on each style, and the letters below are the ones that appear across the range.

Standard (D)

The default width on most of the collection. Listed on Low 1, GAT DS, Driver and Jabbar High. A standard D last suits a foot that measures at or below the width column for its length.

Wide (EE)

A wider last with extra room through the forefoot and toe box, offered on select men's styles such as Low 1 EE Wide. Your length size stays the same, the volume changes.

Wide Toe Box

The orthopedic and c-sole builds use a roomier toe box to accommodate swelling, pressure points or sore feet. They are designed to relieve discomfort without looking bulky, and they do not change your usual length size.

Insoles & Footbed Measurements

The Comfort & Pain Relief Insole is ordered in your shoe size, so choose the same size you wear in footwear. If you want to check the footbed itself, the table below gives the published inside length and inside width of the Low 1 last in millimetres, measured by EU size.

Footbed inside length and inside width in millimetres by EU size for the Low 1 last
EU Inside length (mm) Inside width (mm)
35 234.4 81.86
36 241 83.52
37 247.7 85.18
38 254.3 86.84
39 261 88.5
40 267.7 90.16
41 274.3 91.82
42 281 93.48
43 287.6 95.14
44 294.3 96.8
45 301 98.46
46 307.6 100.1
47 314.3 101.8
48 320.9 103.4
  • GAT runs about 1.3 mm longer and 1.1 mm narrower than Low 1 at the same EU size.
  • Jabbar High runs about 0.2 mm longer than Low 1 with the same inside width.
  • Low 1 Laceless follows the same figures as Low 1.

How to Measure

Two minutes with a sheet of paper is more reliable than guessing from the size you usually buy.

  1. Place a sheet of paper on a hard floor with one short edge against a wall. Stand on the paper with your heel touching the wall and your weight evenly distributed.

  2. Mark the point of your farthest toe on the paper, then measure the distance from the wall to that mark. This is your foot length.

  3. Wrap a soft tape around the widest part of your foot, at the ball, keeping the tape flat and snug but not tight. This is your foot width.

  4. Repeat on the other foot and compare both sets of numbers against the tables above. If the two feet differ, match the larger foot.

LENGTH heel to longest toe WIDTH across the ball

Trace the outline if it helps. Measure length along the dashed vertical line and width along the dashed horizontal line at the ball of the foot.

Getting the Fit Right

A few rules that hold up across the whole range.

Whole sizes only

Every style is offered in whole sizes. If you wear a half size, most customers take the next full size up rather than down.

They run slightly small

Oliver Cabell notes that the sneakers run small. If your foot length lands exactly on a row boundary, choose the larger row.

Measure late in the day

Feet swell through the day and settle at their largest in the evening. Measure then for the most forgiving result.

Match the larger foot

Almost nobody has two identical feet. Size to the larger one and use an insole to fine-tune the other side.

Leather relaxes, knit adapts

Full-grain Italian leather softens and moulds to your foot over the first weeks, while adaptive knit uppers give straight away. Neither stretches in length, so keep the length measurement honest.

Wide feet stay in one length

Going up a length to gain width leaves extra room at the toe. If the width column is the problem, look for the Wide (EE) or wide toe box build instead.

Accessories & One-Size Items

Not everything in the range needs a measurement. These items are supplied in one size or are matched to the shoe size you already wear.

Insoles

Sold in men's and women's versions and ordered in your shoe size. Take the same size you wear in footwear, then trim to the footbed if the style calls for it.

Laces

Supplied in one length intended for the low-top styles. No size selection is required.

Bracelets & Jewelry

Offered in a single adjustable size, so there is no wrist measurement to take.

Care Kits

Cleaner, repel spray, brushes and wipes are one-size products. Nothing to measure before ordering.

Conversion figures are reproduced from the brand's published charts and are intended as a guide. Foot shape, sock thickness and personal preference all play a part, so if you land between two rows, the larger row is the safer pick.
